Community Fridge Coordinator
Job role: The Community Fridge Coordinator assesses and meets Rutland Community Fridge’s needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. The Coordinator manages volunteers and the relationships with those they work with; employees and service users of the fridge. They also monitor, evaluate and accredit volunteers.

Location: Home working and bases being Greetham Church and/or Victoria Hall Oakham.
Days and times: Fridges will be open as follows:
Greetham - Saturday morning
Victoria Hall- Wednesday evening
Hours of work (approximately 4 hours per week) will be flexible to meet the needs of the coordination role.
Commitment expected: Weekly throughout the year according to the dates agreed by our partners, Greetham Church and Victoria Hall.

We aim to recruit someone who:
The Coordinator will:
- Be part of the rota to run the Community Fridge on the day it's running.
- Research and write volunteer policies and procedures, including risk assessments
- Liaise with the Community Fridge staff and refine the volunteer role
- Make duties clear and write step by step instructions where needed
- Raise Community Fridge staff awareness of the role and the function of volunteers
- Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment and publicity strategies and campaigns
- Recruit and interview volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for a position
- Issue Volunteer Application Forms and carry out pre-volunteering checks, including the Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, references and DBS checks where appropriate
- Organise rotas and provide inductions and training, as well as debrief interviews for departing volunteers. The induction training should include Safeguarding training
- Ensure there is appropriate support and training for volunteers through regular informal contact and more structured reviews
- Monitor, support, and motivate volunteers and listen to feedback from them
- Offer advice and information to volunteers and external organisations through face-to-face, phone, Whatsapp and email contact
- Collect data of all surplus food saved from landfill and report to Alex.
- Keep up to date with legislation and policy related to volunteering and make any necessary modifications to accommodate changes
- Issue weekly reminders to volunteers, maintain databases and undertake any other administrative duties.
Keep the admin folder up to date with the following:
- Food log, Temperature log, Disclaimers, WASTE flyer Equipment guarantees and manuals,Volunteer training documents, Health & safety and risk assessments,Other policies, Food Standards Agency certificate, Posters, Allergen info, Freezer labels.
- Generate posters and information sheets to inform and remind volunteers of working protocols.
- Promote good working relationships between volunteers and service users, and be prepared to undertake conflict resolution.

Qualifications
- Satisfactory Enhanced DBS check essential criteria

- Has a passion for working with people and who will embrace the community dynamics within the Community Fridge setting.
- Understands the importance of waste prevention and how to demonstrate that in your practice
- Has an understanding of working with people and those who may be vulnerable
- Has experience of and an enjoyment of working with people from a range of backgrounds -Is able to follow organisational ethos, policies and procedures
- Demonstrates good communication skills, is friendly and polite and able enthuse and motivate others
- Has good planning and organisational skills and able to work to deadlines
- Is proactive at prioritising, problem solving and getting things done
- Has access to own transport to reach the Rutland Community Fridges
- Is able to use judgement and intellect to work on own initiative
- Is Friendly and polite with excellent people skills and a sense of humour
- Is a team player with a willingness to work cooperatively and collaboratively
- Is a fun, warm, caring person.
