About Growers Row
​Open to everyone on Wednesdays between 10am - 3pm 
Growers Row is a shared garden established in association with The Rutland Agricultural Society on the outskirts of Oakham.  A 1.4-acre field, shaped with historic ridge and furrow, the site started as a grassy field and is being transformed into an accessible, productive, educational and beneficial growing space for the whole community.

The garden offers volunteers and students the chance to work and learn with an organic - spray free approach, using no-dig methods  - caring for the environment and growing a healthy of food!

Work has begun on improving the soil diversity of the garden, and how to make a garden work well with rising temperatures.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
SUMMER PATH ACCESS ONLY

Between May and August there is limited access to Rutland Showground due to large events.  During this time, visitors can park on the roadside in Barleythorpe and walk into Growers Row through the summer path.

Summer path access will be in operation on the following dates;
1st, 8th, 15th, & 29th July
5th, 12th & 19th August

Children's Play Area
Growers Row has a designated Children's Play Area, a place for children to initiate, create, solve, and resolve through play with their own minds, hands, and hearts.  This facility is for parents working in the garden who bring their children. 

Loose-parts & open-ended: The Children's Play Area has real objects (not replica toys) that can be used in all sorts of play, in all sorts of ways, and moved around.

Eco-safe: All materials brought into the play area are carefully considered with a sustainability lens. We look for materials that are long-lasting and/or compost safely back into the ecosystem.
The First Year in Pictures
Between March 2021 and March 2022, each week we documented the garden as it grew.
