Jubilee Rutland County Show 2022
We are excited to be curating the Horticultural tent at the Jubilee Rutland County Show on Saturday, 4th June 2022. We have an exciting program to be held in the tent, including nature crafts and Gardeners' Question Time with local experts.
The Horticultural tent will also be a destination to see Community Pots and Garden in Wheelbarrow entries from Rutland primary schools.
Open 9am - 5.30pm
9am - 11am, 1pm - 4pm
Fun and wonderful craft activities with natural materials for children of all ages. Drop-in and see what our Forest School staff have on offer.
Local Botanical Art
The tent walls will display art from a local group that used produce from the community garden as inspiration. Come and meet local artist Helen Chadband between 9am - 11am, who will be busy painting in the tent.
Judging of Garden in a Wheelbarrow and Community Pots
Primary schools, education groups and community organisations from around the county will be displaying their gardening showpieces at the tent. Judging will take place at 11am, by Chair of Rutland Agricultural Society David Wood and Lord Lieutenant Sarah Furness.
Gardeners' Question Time
2pm – 3pm
We are delighted to bring you an expert panel for your gardening questions. Hosted by Alex Wilby, with panellists David Stewardson, Adam Cade and Nick Hamilton.
David Stewardson / David is from an agricultural background and worked as a self-employed gardener for 15 years. Nowadays, David gardens at the allotment in Rutland growing prizewinning flowers and vegetables.
Adam Cade / Adam has a background in sustainable and organic growing, training and International projects. Founding organisations such as StudentForce for Sustainability (now Change Agents UK) and SustEd, and worked for Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF UK). Locally, Adam is a member of the Stamford Community Orchard Group.
Nick Hamilton / Nick is a horticultural writer, broadcaster, plantsman, grower, and designer and has curated the many gardens on show at the iconic Barnsdale Gardens here in Rutland, continuing his father's legacy for all to enjoy.
Alex Wilby / Alex is a co-founder of Root-and-Branch Out CIC and happiest while outside in the garden, woodlands or foraging in the fields. A smallholder, educator, gardener, designer, bushcrafter, forester, sailor, rider, and believe it or not an accountant!
